What you need to know about California’s new paid sick leave law

The ABs 304 and 1522 apply to all employees that work in the state. This is also applicable to non-residents and even if their company is situated out of state. In order to comply with the new law, the business must:

  • Display this poster in a prominent manner in the office
  • Inform employees how many hours of sick leave are used and how many are left during each pay period
  • Allow employees to carry over unused sick leaves from the previous year
  • Allow employees to earn 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 working hours clocked
  • Enable their employees to take no less than 24 hours of sick leave per 12-month period

The new state’s sick leave law will also allow employers to control the use, carry-over and accrual of sick time.
